On January 29, the third regional informative session was held in Prizren with the participation of local institutions and civil society organizations. This informative session was organized by the Prime Minister’s Office – Office for Community Affairs, in order to present the Platform of the Office for Community Affairs, which is supported by the British and Swiss Embassies in Kosovo through a project implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). This platform aims to improve cooperation between institutions and civil society and to respond to the needs of the communities and create social inclusion.
Representatives of the Office for Community Affairs, IOM, municipal offices for communities and returns, employment offices and non-governmental organizations from the Prizren region participated in this meeting.
This meeting discussed the functionalization of the platform and opportunities to improve access to services for communities and promotion.
An important topic of discussion was the support of young people from the non-majority communities to practical work through Superpuna and Kosova GenU platforms that aim to empower young people from non-majority communities and provide them with better opportunities for professional development and integration in the labor market.
Another important issue discussed was the verification of diplomas, which can now be done online as well through Ekosova platform, making the process easier for citizens and increasing transparency in the verification of the academic qualifications.
Participants also made recommendations about the platform and ways it could be more useful to communities. They discussed improving access to information, more active involvement of local institutions and civil society in using the platform. Also, the need for further support in areas such as education, employment and economic development of non-majority communities, as well as continuous cooperation of local and central institutions, was highlighted.
