The Office for Community Affairs, this year as well, had the honor to respond to the request for support from the representatives of the Ashkali community and enable them to celebrate the National Day and show that communities are equally important and that each contribu tp multi-ethnicity in our society, which is what Kosovo is known for.
On February 15, 2025, the Day of Kosovo Ashkali was declared, marking the 22nd anniversary of Flag Day. This day symbolizes the efforts, culture, and history of the Ashkali community, and their commitment to an equal and integrated society.
This important event was attended by representatives of central and local institutions, representatives, Kosovo Assembly MPs, soldiers, and policemen from the Ashkali community, as well as representatives of two political parties. Citizens from all over Kosovo also attended the event marking jointly this day of historical and cultural importance.
The event was characterized by a festive and collaborative atmosphere, including inspirational speeches, artistic performances, and discussions on the importance of integration, equality, and respect for diversity in Kosovo society. Participants emphasized the need for continued efforts to strengthen the Ashkali community, especially in areas such as education, employment, and institutional representation.
