NOTIFICATION: RURAL EMPOWERMENT FUND AVAILABLE FROM GIZ AND MINISTRY FOR COMMUNITIES AND RETURN!
The Kosovo Rural Empowerment Fund for non-majority communities’ objective is fostering small-scale economic activities according to the given potential in the rural area aiming at creating or maintaining existing jobs specifically for non-majority community members. The newly established activities are aiming at offering development potentials with a low threshold entrance to become economically active for income generation and to contribute to reduce the outmigration from rural areas especially of young people.
This fund for the development of agriculture and rural enterprise is implemented in partnership with the Ministry for Communities and Returns and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, with co-financing from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The specific objective of the grant scheme is to foster economic activities in rural areas and support non-majority small-scale farmers by providing grants for the following activities:
- Processing of agricultural products on-farm and off-farm like in private households and food processing facilities
- Collection and processing of non-wood forest products (NWFP) and Medicinal & Aromatic Plants (MAP), mushrooms and ornamental plants
- Honey production
- Growing poultry for eggs & meat production.
The target group are members of non-majority communities in all regions of Kosovo. The grant is targeted to small farmers, members of farm households, individuals, micro and small enterprises to realize their intention to generate income through diversified economic activities:
- Individuals (natural persons) already running or starting a business in rural areas
- Micro and small enterprises
- Start-up businesses
- Farmers
- Micro and small enterprises must be registered at the Business Registration Agency of Kosovo (ARBK) for the business activity in the field of the applied project according to the list of activity codes.
- Farmers, their household members, individuals should be registered in rural areas.
- Micro and small enterprises are eligible recipients regardless of whether they are registered in urban or rural areas while the planned project must be implemented in rural areas.

NOTIFICATION: SCHOLARSHIPS FOR STUDENTS FROM ROMA, ASHKALI AND EGYPTIAN COMMUNITIES!
The Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI) announced a public call for financial support for students from the roma, ashkali, and egyptian communities who are enrolled for the first time in the academic year 2025–2026 in the first year of bachelor studies at one of the Public Universities of the Republic of Kosovo.
Each selected student will receive financial support in the amount of 1,000 euros.
Eligibility Criteria and Priorities:
- Applicants must be citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.
- Must belong to the roma, ashkali, or egyptian communities.
- Must be enrolled for the first time (in the first year) in bachelor studies at a public university in Kosovo.
- To increase the representation of women in higher education, female candidates will be given preference in cases of equal qualification.
- Applicants with disabilities will be given priority.
- Must have an active personal bank account in one of the banks operating in the Republic of Kosovo.
Required Documents:
- Proof of university enrollment (student status or registration form).
- Self-declaration form on ethnic affiliation.
- Copy of ID card.
- Bank confirmation of an active personal account.
- If applicable, official documentation issued by competent authorities confirming disability status (as specified in criterion 5).
