The Government of Kosovo allocated EUR 7,375,138 to subsidize purchase of textbooks and teaching materials for the 2024/2025 academic year.

This decision was made on August 14, 2024, at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Albin Kurti, after the Ministry of Education’s request for allocation of these funds was approved.

This year, the subsidy will be EUR 80 for primary education students (1st to 5th grade), while for students of lower secondary education (6th to 9th grade) the subsidy will be EUR 110.

The Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation has submitted a catalog of textbooks to municipal directorates for education and created a list of approved textbooks that will be published on the Ministry’s website at the following link:

Application for subsidies is done electronically on the E-Kosovo platform, applicants must first register on the platform, then select the section “Services”, then “Education”, after that they shoud select the category that suits their children and enter the required data.

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Directorate General for Europe and International Trade Policy-DGUE) has published a notice (Bando Balcani) in favor of projects aimed at enabling Italian participation in international peace and humanitarian initiatives and the protection of human rights.

Contributions are awarded to proposals for initiatives related to the following thematic areas, in the Western Balkans region (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia):

a) consolidation of democratic institutions and support for processes of national and regional reconciliation; strengthening the Western Balkans’ EU accession process and improving EU integration; prevention of terrorism and extremism, reform of judiciary and electoral system, transparency, fight against corruption and organized crime;

b) inclusion and promotion of youth, women and national minorities in the processes of regional reconciliation and EU integration;

c) strengthening the protection and promotion of human rights;

d) promoting the spread and protection of international and humanitarian law.

The proposed initiatives can be bilateral or regional in nature.

Available funds are EUR 240,000. Each selected proposal can receive a contribution that does not exceed 90% of the total amount of costs necessary for the implementation of the proposed activities and in any case up to a maximum amount of EUR 30,000.

Submission of proposals by private entities with a registered office in Italy or in another country of the European Union shall be made exclusively by certified e-mail to dgue.adriatico-balcani@cert.esteri.it  and CC’d to bandobalcani@esteri.it.  The subject line of the email should include the words “RIF. Bando Balcani 2024” and the name of the proposer (non-governmental organization).

For entities that have their registered office in a country that is not a member of the EU, the application is submitted exclusively through the territorially competent Italian diplomatic mission. Specifically, for entities with a registered office in Kosovo, applications (with all documents and declarations) are sent exclusively in digital mode to segreteria.pristina@esteri.it, stating in the title the words “Balkan Call for Proposals 2024 – Entity Name”.

USAID Investment Promotion and Access to Finance Activity (“The Activity”) invites qualified non-for-profit, for-profit and non-governmental organizations to submit Expressions of Interest in order to receive funds to implement innovative approaches that contribute to attracting investments and increasing access to diversified finance in Kosovo.

Through this call for applications, eligible organizations can apply for funding from EUR 30,000 to EUR 230,000 (or the equivalent of $250,000).

USAID Investment Promotion and Access to Finance Activity is a five-year project that aims to strengthen the capacity of private sector to achieve sustainable economic growth through two mutually reinforcing goals: attracting investment and increasing access to and use of diversified finance.

The USAID Kosovo Investment Promotion and Access to Finance activity is financed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and is implemented by the organization DT Global, as the main contractor, together with Recura Financials and Connexus Corporation as subcontractors.

USAID Kosovo Investment Promotion and Access to Finance Activity

The Network of Women’s Organizations of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians of Kosovo “RROGRAEK” is inviting qualified candidates to participate in this competition to express interest for the position of Executive Director.

Qualifications, work experience and skills:

• Work experience in the field of human rights/women’s rights in the organization.

• Candidate must possess excellent computer skills including Windows, Excel, Power Point etc.

Digital Peacebuilders is a dynamic one-day youth-led workshop aimed at combating hate speech and fake news. This event will gather together young people aged 16-30 and local journalists as mentors, ending with the creation of video clips in the local languages ​​of Kosovo. Funded by UNMIK, this initiative empowers youth to become agents of change and combat the rise of online disinformation.

Participants will take part in a series of interactive sessions and discussions, gaining insight into the growth of artificial intelligence, its risks and benefits in digital age. They will learn practical strategies to combat hate speech, understand the formation of fake news and develop skills to identify false information. In collaboration with local journalists, participants will conceptualize and shoot short video clips, which will be shared on UN Youth platforms.
