GRANTS FOR NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS:
NOTIFICATION: The Federal Ministry of European and International Affairs, Republic of Austria awards successful projects of inter-cultural and inter-religious dialogue in the fields of art/culture, youth, human rights, education for global citizenship, integration, and gender equality!
The Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs has defined the “Dialogue of Cultures” as a clear international policy priority. Austria is building a long tradition of intercultural dialogue, which is deeply rooted in the history of diversity and pluralism and strengthened through multilateral and bilateral dialogue initiatives.
Since 2007, the working group Dialogue of Cultures has supported partner organizations in implementing intercultural and interreligious projects and is in charge of designing, financing, and implementing initiatives.
The Intercultural Achievement Award (IAA) was launched in 2014 as a key Project of Intercultural Dialogue. Its aimed to identify and reward innovative solution-oriented projects of intercultural dialogue in Austria and globally.
Thematic priorities according to the Austrian strategic focus facilitate the compatibility of submitted projects. Therefore, the intercultural projects applying for the IAA must be active in at least one of the following areas:
• Art/culture
• Youth
• Human rights
• Global civic education
• Integration
• Gender equality
Eligibility Criteria:
Organizations and/or individuals whose projects mainly focus on intercultural and interreligious dialogue and contribute to its success are eligible.
Selection and Awarding of Awards:
The Working Group will check whether the applications received at the latest by April 30, 2025, are complete.
An independent jury in Vienna consisting of experts in the field of intercultural dialogue will then make the final selection. There will be one winner per category.
• Sustainability category: monetary prize of EUR 10,000
• Recent events category: monetary prize of EUR 6,000
• Technology category: monetary prize of EUR 6,000
• Innovation category: monetary prize of EUR 6,000
• Media category: monetary prize of EUR 6,000
• Religious freedoms category: monetary prize of EUR 6,000
• Special prize “Integration in Austria”: monetary prize of EUR 6,000,
(applications can be made only from projects based and active in Austria).
The awards ceremony is scheduled for autumn 2025. Winners will be invited to attend the ceremony.

Project grants are intended to achieve specific results within a specific time frame. Beneficiaries of these grants can be individuals, unregistered initiatives, and non-governmental organizations with the most effective and innovative ideas that have real potential to advance the Program’s goals and objectives.
Project grants will support specific activities of civil society initiatives and individuals dealing with specific issues, more systematic or limited in scope and duration;
In addition, they aim to support the initiatives of individuals, unregistered initiatives, and non-governmental organizations for more focused and short-term projects. Civil society initiatives must operate in their local communities.
WHO CAN APPLY?
- Individuals (citizens of the Republic of Kosovo);
- Unregistered initiatives;
- Domestic non-governmental organizations (NGOs) registered in Kosovo.
TIMELINE AND BUDGET
Applicants are entitled to apply for funding for a maximum period of 12 months. The maximum budget that can be requested for funding from this call for one grant should not exceed EUR 10,000.
