The Government of Kosovo, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, launched a pilot phase of the Voucher Program, an important initiative to support families in the social assistance system. This Program aims to increase the inclusion of children between the ages of 3 and 5 in licensed kindergartens, by covering costs of education and transportation. The Program, funded by the World Bank in the amount of EUR 1.8 million, aims to quadruple the enrollment of children in preschool institutions by 2027.

This project is in line with the Government’s strategic priorities for the promotion of early education, through support of the adoption of the Law on Early Childhood and the development of a new curriculum. The Deputy Director of the World Bank for Kosovo and North Macedonia, Jane Millicent Sprouster, emphasized the importance of this Program, highlighting its benefits for children’s development and the involvement of private institutions in the provision of childcare services.
