The Community Affairs Office provided support in the form of scholarships for students of the Balkanistic studies program at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Pristina. This four-year program is accredited by the Kosovo Accreditation Agency, after a thorough assessment by international experts.
The program was established with the aim of improving interlinguistic and intercultural communication in Kosovo and the Western Balkans region, training students and professionals for translation in the official languages of Kosovo, as well as other Balkan languages, including Croatian, Bosnian and Macedonian, as well as preparing them for holding intercultural classes at local languages in future careers.
Upon completion of the program, students will have employment opportunities in the following areas:
- Translation and interpretation of two or more languages in the public and private sector;
- Teacher of official languages in Kosovo;
- Consultant and researcher for intercultural relations between people in the Balkan region for governmental and non-governmental organizations;
- Regional communications specialist for the public and private sector.
During the 2023/2024 school year, three students from the Bosniak community received scholarships and their graduation is expected by 2027. The office helps with scholarships during the first year of studies with the aim of promoting the integration of non-majority communities in the work of institutions.
